Stevens Greenland Cemetery has the largest number of African American Veterans in Lancaster County—men and women who have served in the Civil War, Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II and the Korean War. Nelson M Polite Jr., president of the African American Historical Society of South Central PA and board member at Lancaster History.org will be our guide. He will tell us stories about this unique space in Lancaster which has recently, through volunteer efforts of many people, been restored to a place of honor and beauty. At the conclusion of the info session and cemetery tour, you will be invited to make a donation towards upkeep of the cemetery.
