Bus Trip: Three Philadelphia Historic Houses of Worship CANCELED
NOTE: TO REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT, DOWNLOAD A REGISTRATION FORM AND SEND TO SUSAN LEINBERGER AS INDICATED ON THE FORM.
Registration deadline is February 28.
We begin our day touring the Beth Sholom Synagogue, a National Historic Landmark and the only synagogue designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It was recognized shortly after his death by the American Institute of Architects and the National Trust for Historic Preservation as one of his seventeen most important projects
Next, we stop at a local restaurant for lunch (included) on our way to tour the Historic 1770 Germantown Mennonite Meetinghouse.
Germantown is the first permanent Mennonite settlement in the New World, and the first place Germans settled in the colonies. The 1770 Meetinghouse is a symbol of these new beginnings.
We will end our day with a visit to the nearby St. Vincent de Paul Parish, the Mother Church of the Germantown neighborhood of Philadelphia. Since the founding of the parish in 1851, St. Vincent de Paul’s existence and architectural form have been interwoven into the history of Philadelphia and is currently the only Catholic church in Germantown.
Trip price per person: $140.00; non member $143.
Price includes: motorcoach transportation, driver gratuity, lunch including taxes and gratuity, and all tour and admission fees.
