Due to popular demand, we head back to NYC for the fabulous only US stop of the Manet/Degas exhibit. These 2 French painters were friends, rivals, and often at odds when working to define the emerging “modern” painting in France. Over 150 of their works are displayed side by side to compare and contrast their artistic approaches.
At 2:30 pm we head by bus to the Cathedral Church of St. John the Divine, 112th St & Amsterdam Ave where we will have an hour-long tour of this historic, fabulous cathedral.
Infamous and famous have walked its aisles. From the Blessing of the Animals to the annual Craft Fair, the Cathedral has seen more than most: Desmond Tutu, Nelson Mandella, the Dali Lama and MLK have shared a message. Bernstein and Ellington have played there. Nyers sheltered there during 9/11.
