     All Downtowners have been involved formal education at some time in their lives: all as learners and many as educators. In addition to public and traditional private schools Lancaster offers many options for alternative primary, elementary and secondary education. During months of January through March we will visit three of these innovative schools. Join us for our February visit to Lancaster Friends School. 

• Lancaster Friends School has a mission with social justice at its core incorporating Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality/equity, and stewardship/sustainability.
• Solvit Academy combines state-of-the-art software, projects with real-world applications, Socratic discussions and internships to prepare learners for life.
